Transcend records is fast approaching its second birthday, and has a case of the terrible two’s. That is to say we remain as obstinate and contrary as ever we have been. We are a totally independent label, in ownership, and ethics. We sign what we like, and we like what we sign.
As we evolve into a fully rounded music company, we try to look out for our artists interests in all spheres of the world of the business we call music. We are about to launch our own merchandising division, because we don’t feel our bands should have to spend there own money on buying and making t-shirts. So we will do it for them.
Most of our acts are now published, and we have been happy to help there and to save them paying 20% to somebody who doesn’t really care, we provide a total management solution – we like to call it a 361 degree music company. Its all part of it you see? There isn’t the money in this game for bands to pay large chunks of there income to sub contracted workers, we would rather the success stayed where it should be, with the people who write, and play the songs.
We ain’t perfect, hell no, and will never pretend that we are. But, and it’s a big and important but, we will stay true to ourselves, our ethics, our independence and our values.
In essence, we want to, and generally do, enjoy what we are, and what we achieve. We want all our bands to feel the same..
Want to work with us? You’ll have to have that something special, be guitar based and have a strong work ethic. Most importantly, we will have to like you, and what you do. There is, as they say, always room for one more in the stable.
The Transcend team.

The More I See
Ex prodigy guitar god, Gizz Butt is a man of many talents. You may have seen him in one of his many incarnations, with the Fields Of The Nephilim, Sabbat, or even Crass. But his real love is classic metal, served up on a massive contemporary plate. We beat off stiff competition to bag this album from the Midlands 5 piece and it's out very soon at all good record stores.

The Conspirators, with Judy Dyble
The first release from the Conspirators has now officially bounced out of its North Yorkshire bunker, and has made a tidy dent in a couple of nationwide charts. The band hooked up with folk rock legend, Judy Dyble, for a double aa side cover of a classic tune from the first Fairport Convention album, with Judy (who sung then, in 1967) and now, this time round, sees her sharing lead vocal duties with the Conspirators own Genevieve. The flip, and that's the right word, as we did this on limited vinyl too, is a Conspirators original, Take Me To Your Leader. After considerable regional press, tv, and radio interest, and a promotional tour that involved 3 HMV instore shows, including Leeds megastore, the package debuts this week on the national indie chart, at number 7. We have worked hard on the physical side of this release, and this has seen it on sale in every HMV in Britain, and has also performed admirably in the download stakes, currently, all 4 tracks available digitally are in the download top 30. A great start, and a great comeback, and we as a label, are setting the bar higher and higher per release, which is a bit brave and hectic, but hey, we are nothing if not seriously ambitious.....
Please click here and here for EPKs, with full release details.
The strictly limited vinyl 7” is nearly sold out; please go here to reserve your copy.
The cd single is available from all good outlets and, by ordering from here,
you get an exclusive bonus track. You can also download the single from the Transcend eStore, click here for a direct link.

Controversial 'art punkers' Belisha have just released there first single through Transcend. 'Who's a clever boy?' has received nationwide press and reviews, and has, at current date, spent 5 weeks in the higher end of the UK chart, reaching number 2 in the official rock chart. Of course, this is just the start of the bands journey, a further 4 minute blast of barmy alt/punk pop is due out from our HQ very soon. Its been a summer of tv theme's, festival appearances, radio interviews and live acoustic sessions, and a 2 week run as featured artist on Myspace has only gone to show that you can sell records, not cheat, and not sell out, and remain the masters of your own destiny. Who ever would tell a band what to do who are likely to shoot, incinerate or bury you alive? As a label, we are pleased to have helped bring quite the maddest, baddest band in Britain into the stores, and as importantly, your homes.
'The Nothing to lose' Belisha tour is staggering round a few select venues in the next few weeks, and can we highly reccomend you go and see them? Urinating clowns, guns, custard pies, flamethrowers, special audio visual owl appearances are just a part of it.
The barking 5 some have spent the winter writing show tunes, film theme scores, and soothing ambient ‘chill out tapes' which, as they only agreed to release on cassette, was of little use to us. So instead we bribed them with various types of cheese, to make another pop/punk winner. We are relieved, no, delighted that this sort of thing comes as second nature to them, and the results are another mouth watering offering that we are delighted to be bringing you in late spring.
